the perfect toy September 5, 2010 Ms. J. W. Siverns (Birmingham UK) One 8 year old boy is extremely thrilled today with his birthday present. It does everything that the Buzz does in the films except karate chop and dance the flamenco!
As real as is possible to make August 26, 2010 R. J. Mero (Lancing, UK) In 1995 I can remember going to what was then called Disney's MGM Studios Florida, which at the time was the only place to get the Buzz Lightyear action figure. I was so happy. Even though the wings were stubby and the tips were painted and not lights. Even though the body wasn't as flexible. And even though there wasn't a wrist communicator, it was still awesome when I was 10.
This Buzz Lightyear however is incredible. The only things that it doesn't do? The helmet still only goes back half way and there is no karate chop action. That's it! He's got light up wing tips, wrist communicator, an impressive wing span, flexible waist and the voice buttons are brilliant. His red button sounds tinny and does all the over acted "Buzz Lightyear, to the rescue!" toy sounds, where as his blue button has crisp sounding Space Ranger phrases, for instance, you open his helmet in this mode and Buzz says "Ahh, it's good to breathe planetary air again..." This is as close to the movie toy as is possible to make. Especially now Buzz comes in his space ship packaging!
Ive loved Toy Story since the moment I saw it, and this is such a great piece of memorabilia to bring the film to life, finally.
To infinity & jolly well past that August 21, 2010 Alogia Arrived on time & in great condition.
After getting Woody, Buzz was next. He does exactly what it says on tin. He looks amazing, the wings are very impressive compared to earlier models. He doesn't quite have the movability of the Buzz toy in the movie. For example his wrist rotate 360 but do not pivot. However you can still get many classic poses out of him.
The karate chop is also not included as it is actually a physical impossibility with the wings in the way, but this is a needless feature seeing as you can move his arm yourself.
He comes in a movie accurate spaceship box. His chest buttons are separate this time round with individual functions. The red oval is his toy mode, he will say the phrases the toy says in the movie. The green oval is to turn on his mic so that he can hear & respond to the tone & level of your voice (he will even turn his head to look at you), and the blue oval turns on his interactive mode in which he either is a space ranger, or thinks he's a space ranger depending on how you play. These are the main features of buzz and are great fun on their own. The other features include the pressure wings with alternating flashing green & red tips, laser light with sound, helmet with whoosh sound, Glow in the dark trims, and wrist communicator. The wings, helmet & wrist communicator all have signature sounds & speech in interactive mode.
The wings on mine don't really clip back in anymore & I've only pressed the button about 4 times. What I said in my Woody review goes double for Buzz. This toy is an absolute must for Toy Story fans young & old. However there is a huge wear & tear risk here. This is a pretty heavy, awkward and delicate toy with a lot of instructions that even go as far to say that you can only hold him a certain way without causing to damage him.
I would recommend the Toy Story 3 toy line for the younger kids, they are less expensive, they have slightly less features but look exactly the same. I think if a young kid was to play with this it wouldn't last very long at all, and you may feel that one was enough.
A good Sturdy toy August 17, 2010 Hoopies (Somerset, UK) This is a Very good toy and I really love it, the wings are awesome they aren't as small like the ones on my on my old crappy Buzz. The lights on the wings are great, he glows in the dark well and his laser is great. He responds to your voice well and is a very sturdy toy. There are two Minor problems No.1 Being that my Buzz' Wrist communicator is quite hard to open and No.2 Being That it does scratch easily. But overall it is a Fantastic toy and I love it.
Buzz Lightyear to the rescue! July 28, 2010 Darren Jones The detail on Buzz is great. Lots of different actions and sayings. Make sure you read the instructions because he has a few hidden features, like he's in limited demo mode until you turn him on properly. This is Buzz exactly as you see him in the films.
The only thing that disappointed me was the packaging to actually get him out of the box is awful. Took me something like 10 mins to get at him.
Recommended for any Toy Story fan, whether it's a collectable or a toy.
